We'll Meet Again covers four music styles: Big Band and Swing, sing-along, patriotic and novelty songs. It shows how wartime events changed popular music, touches on key dates and rationing, and includes audience participation. Fiona performs in her WW2 ATS uniform. Teachers may like to have pupils make Union Jack flags to wave at the end.
World War One
Pack Up Your Troubles looks at how music provided escapism during the Great War and how songs were used to encourage recruitment. It features Music Hall stars and their styles, and it can be adapted into a Victorian-themed show.
Show details
Each show lasts 40 minutes and can be extended to 60 minutes on request. The ideal audience is 30 to 60 pupils, and Fiona can perform to two classes back to back.
For junior schools, teachers may prefer a whole-school performance first, followed by a class session that explains the songs in more detail. Fiona holds an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Workshops
Fiona runs singing workshops for ages 12 and over, including adults. They last 40 to 60 minutes and are tailored to each client. Pupils learn basic breathing and singing technique, a round and group work, and finish with a combined performance. The focus is on building confidence and self-esteem.
What teachers say
“Fiona's voice is unique: her clarity, diction, range, strength, tone and delivery are all superb, while her mannerisms and personality demonstrate, at all times, an obvious love for music, performance and the stage.”
Theresa Short, Head of Music, Leighton Middle School
